hopes to work in coalition with other queer groups, Planned
Parenthood organizations and AIDS groups to oppose raising
the age of consent” reports a homosexual paper.
Egale
and other groups are trying to use the “control
your own body” argument of abortionists to justify
keeping sexual consent age at 14.
It
appears that some activists support adults having sex
with children. Now it appears they want it to be a “
right”.
A
Coalition For Lesbian And Gay Rights In Ontario and
the Sex Laws Committee attacked Conservative Justice
Minister Vic Toews' plans to raise the age to 16. Part
of their argument - Raising the age would discriminate
against the sexual choices of gay youth. So it would
appear they support adult sex with children – not
just between children. It is amazing that Egale claims
it is “reaching out” to queer youth groups
for their input on this legal matter. This is like asking
children if they want to go to school, when they do
not understand the consequences of not getting an education.
These
arguments reinforce the very reason the government must
act upon this issue and raise the age. Legal protection
is the only protection children will have against adults
wanting sex with them. There is one group that called
for age of consent to be reduced to 12 and some even
asked for 8 years old (NAMBLA). Adult pedophiles have
no regard for children and recent child porn arrests
show they will abuse babies for adult sexual gratification.
Child
protection has become absolutely necessary as societal
sexual standards erode.
CFAC
will continue its 7 year push for the age of consent
to be raised to 16.
In
fact, after seeing the beliefs expressed by some activists,
the age should raised to 18 so we can protect more youth
and children.
